Olivia Wilde finally breaks silence on Harry Styles and Chris Pine’s ‘SpitGate’

do not worry my love It’s finally hitting theaters this weekend, after months of film cast and crew who have captivated the pop culture scene in some surprising ways. Among these was “SpitGate,” a social media theory regarding whether one of the film’s stars, Harry Styles, spat on his co-star Chris Pine during the film’s premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Currently, do not worry my love Director and star Olivia Wilde addressed SpitGate during her recent appearance on Late Show with Stephen Colbertarguing that it is an example for people looking for “drama anywhere they can”.

“Another one of our weird rumors, Spit-Gate, which you’ve probably heard of, is I guess…” Wilde began before answering Colbert’s question about whether or not Styles spat on Pine. “No, he didn’t. But I think it’s a great example of, like, people are going to look for drama anywhere they can. Harry didn’t spit on Chris, actually…”

When the controversy first began, Payne’s representatives referred to the rumors as a “complete fabrication.”

“This is a ridiculous story – a complete fabrication and the result of a bizarre Internet illusion that is clearly deceptive and allows for foolish speculation,” a representative for Payne said in a statement on Tuesday. “To be clear, Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine. There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create a drama that simply doesn’t exist.”

“Florence is a strength and we are so grateful that she was able to achieve it tonight despite continuing to produce DuneWilde shared when a reporter asked him to “clear the air” about the rumours. I know as a director how upsetting it can be to lose an actor even for one day, so I am very grateful to her and [Dune director] Denis Villeneuve for helping us – we’re really glad we’re going to celebrate her work tonight.”
